Bunker Fuel Surcharge Update – Current Rates to Remain in Effect for February

Dear Valued Customer:

Horizon Lines will not be increasing our bunker surcharge in February 2009, as previously announced. Bunker surcharge rates will remain in effect as follows:

Containers loaded or discharged in Jacksonville, FL or Port Everglades, FL - $290 per container.

Containers loaded or discharged in Elizabeth, NJ - $380 per container.

Containers loaded or discharged in Houston, TX - $415 per container.

In response to customer feedback, we will announce any changes to our bunker surcharge at the beginning of each calendar month for purposes of consistency and ease of implementation for our customer base.

Any changes to our current surcharge levels will be announced at the beginning of March.
