Nelson resigns from Jacksonville Port Authority
July 15, 2008
Tony Nelson, the vice chairman of the Jacksonville Port Authority who is under federal investigation, has resigned, explaining it was in the best interest of the port.
Nelson's letter of resignation to Mayor John Peyton follows the resignation of the authority's deputy executive director, Ron Baker, last month.
The authority is reviewing its procurement process during a federal investigation involving companies doing business with the authority and Nelson. Nelson took leave of absence in April because of his involvement in the investigation.
"I wish Chairman [Ricardo] Morales, the board, and the port continuing success in this exciting time of growth," Nelson wrote in a letter dated Monday. |
